VBAC Home Birth with Private Midwives

I’ve always had a fear of a child birth from a very young age as I couldn’t fathom how it is possible for a women to give birth and from all the shows I’ve seen it’s always been dramatised and it seemed scary. Then in 2018, I fell pregnant with my first daughter and had a traumatic experience which resulted in an emergency c section and later on an ongoing infection which almost costed me my life. It took me a very long time to come around the idea of falling pregnant again and when I did, I decided to seek out private care to help support me on the journey.

My midwife (Rachel) was amazing. She supported and kept me well informed and encouraged me to believe that I can have a positive birth experience and that’s exactly what happened. She helped me with my birth plan, hypo birthing tools, VBAC reading materials and was present throughout and showed so much care and compassion.

On my due date everything went amazing but I was prepared for if things didn’t go as planned. To my surprise I actually enjoyed my birthing experience and dare I say it was beautiful.

Overall, I feel strong, capable and empowered after birthing my beautiful daughter Amélie vaginally after a c section (which I never thought possible). I’m happy to have had such great support from my wonderful midwife and it’s been life changing for husband and I. I’m finally healed from my past birth trauma and see labour and birth completely different and positively.
