Our Services for International Clients

If you are travelling to the UK to have your baby and you have private medical insurance, you may need to obtain a pre-authorisation code from your insurer if you wish to make a claim. In most cases we ask you to pay upfront for our fees and claim the money back yourself from your insurance company. In some cases, depending on your insurer, we accept a deposit and we can then claim the money back direct from your insurance company. Please discuss this with us. We will supply you with detailed receipts to assist you with claiming back from your insurance company.

If you are NOT entitled to free NHS care and wish to use NHS facilities, additional NHS fees will apply. These are billed direct by the NHS. You will need to contact the hospital of your choice to establish their fees and obtain permission to access their services. You may choose to have some aspects of care from your private midwife - for example antenatal and postnatal care, and just use NHS facilities for birth. Alternatively, you may want your private midwife with you during birth as well - someone you know and trust to ensure you are never left alone and everything is explained to you.

The following page shows you the options available to you. You can choose from Antenatal & Postnatal services, Birth Support only and all inclusive Home Birth or all inclusive Hospital Birth Packages:

Antenatal Services

During pregnancy, you are advised to access antenatal care. This is to ensure that you and baby remain well and also to give you information about your choices and options for birth. We do understand that this can be both an exciting and anxious time for you, and so our aim is to give you expert care to ensure you have a positive pregnancy and birth experience. Pregnancy can be a worrying time and we want to help you feel relaxed and confident throughout.

All antenatal appointments are conducted in your own home or a mutually agreeable place. Normally you will see the same midwife throughout. Appointments are typically every 4 weeks until 28 weeks of pregnancy, then every 2-3 weeks until 37 weeks of pregnancy, then weekly until birth.

What is included?

  • Continuity of care from your experienced, senior midwife. You may also be introduced to a second midwife who will be available to provide extra support if labour takes a long time
  • Antenatal appointments in your own home to help you prepare for birth, all arranged at a time convenient to you
  • Birth preparation discussions to include relaxation techniques and tips for creating a positive birth environment
  • Involvement of your chosen family members in your antenatal care if you wish
  • Access to your midwife via telephone/text/email in between appointments for answers to those niggling little questions that can’t wait
  • At each appointment the midwife will offer to undertake holistic assessment of mum and baby
  • Private scans and blood tests ARE NOT included but can be arranged at an additional cost if required
  • All clients are offered a customised growth chart, as recommended by The Perinatal Institute.
